HANDS-ON - HANDS-ON WORKSHOP ON ROOM ACOUSTICS
Together with the bdia Baden-Württemberg Regional Association, we at GFAG Gesellschaft für Akustik und Gestaltung organized a hands-on workshop day focused on the topic of room acoustics in interior design.
In five concise, hands-on workshops, participants were able to experience acoustic design from various perspectives:
01. Activity-Based Acoustics Design with Rainer Machner of Soundcomfort
Rainer Machner explained the fundamentals of effective room acoustics and demonstrated how acoustic design can be adapted to different activities, work styles, and usage scenarios—to create spaces that specifically support concentration, communication, and well-being.
02. Acoustic Elements in the Reverberation Chamber – Standards & Measurement with Björn Steinecke
In the reverberation chamber, Björn Steinecke provided a practical demonstration of how acoustic elements are measured and evaluated, which standards apply, and how measurement results help in the well-founded planning of acoustic solutions.
03. Material Matters – An Overview of Acoustic Solutions with Nina Daub
Nina Daub presented various materials and acoustic solutions and demonstrated how their properties, design possibilities, and areas of application work together effectively in the planning process.
04. Fabric Meets Function – Creating Acoustics with Fabric with Königherz
Königherz demonstrated how textile surfaces combine acoustics and interior design, and highlighted the possibilities fabrics offer for creating spaces that are functional, high-quality, and atmospheric.
05. From Concept to Reality – Acoustic Solutions in Projects with Marcus Blank
Marcus Blank provided insights into how an initial acoustic idea is transformed into a feasible solution for a project—from consultation and planning through product selection to implementation in the space.
The direct practical relevance was particularly important to us: In small groups, participants experimented, discussed, and demonstrated how acoustics not only work from a technical standpoint but can also be meaningfully integrated into spaces from a design perspective.
The event concluded with a group visit to the EgeTrans Arena in Bietigheim, followed by a wrap-up in the VIP Lounge. Paco Barthe’s presentation offered an exciting new perspective: What can planning, project work, and team processes learn from professional sports?
