History of GFAG

Gesellschaft für Akustik und Gestaltung mbH, a family-owned business, has been operating successfully in the market for over 30 years. From the very beginning, we have focused on our customers’ interests and needs. That is why we did not limit ourselves to standard products, but instead developed new solutions for improving the acoustics of rooms.

1990

In 1990, Wolfhart Steinecke founded the company under its original name, Steinecke Consulting. Initially, the company focused on the distribution of acoustic ceilings and lighting systems. As the demand from engineers for modular acoustic elements for use in concrete-core-heated buildings grew, Wolfhart Steinecke, in collaboration with engineers and testing laboratories, developed acoustic baffles for office spaces. This made it possible for the first time to install suspended ceiling systems that maintain thermal activation and allow continuous access to the ceiling. Thanks to their visually appealing design options, they also aligned with the trend toward holistic interior design concepts.

2002

Further innovations on the path to becoming the market leader included the development of a frameless ceiling panel and adhesive installation methods for buildings where drilling is not permitted.

Due to these product expansions, which not only improve the acoustics of rooms but also enhance their visual design, the company was renamed Gesellschaft für Akustik und Gestaltung mbH on May 14, 2002. As the company continued to grow, a second production site was established in Cottbus.

2008

In 2008, his son Björn Steinecke joined the company and took over as managing director in 2010. From then on, the company rapidly grew to become the market leader in the field of customized hearing solutions.

Wall Absorbers, Light Baffles
& Room Dividers

New innovations such as light baffles, as well as an expansion of the product portfolio—including wall absorbers and room dividers—further strengthened this position. Along with this, the company moved to larger facilities at its Bietigheim-Bissingen location.

The company is growing steadily and expanding both its sales structures and its international partnerships, for example in Austria, the United Kingdom, and Luxembourg. This has led to a continuous expansion of its production facilities and an increase in its workforce.
